Top journalists, producer to discuss John F. Kennedy, show clips of new PBS documentary, Oct. 30

A panel will discuss John F. Kennedy’s life and presidency, accompanied by clips from an upcoming film at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at the National Press Club.

The film, "JFK," premieres on PBS in November in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the president’s death.

The panel will examine how the press treated Kennedy and how the media’s treatment of presidents has changed throughout the years.

• Susan Bellows, producer and director, of the film;
• Evan Thomas, journalist and best-selling author of "Robert Kennedy: His Life," and
• Sally Bedell Smith, journalist and best-selling author of "Grace and Power: The Private World of the Kennedy White House"

"JFK" airs on American Experience on Monday, Nov. 11 and Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. on PBS.

Susan Bellows, producer and director of "JFK", is an award-winning producer and writer with more than 20 years experience producing national programs for public television. Bellows is currently the series producer for American Experience. Previously, Bellows served as senior producer for the Peabody and Emmy-award winning series, Africans in America.

Evan Thomas is a journalist and best-selling author whose works include "Robert Kennedy: His Life." He currently teaches journalism at Princeton University.

Sally Bedell Smith is a journalist and best-selling author whose books include "Grace and Power: The Private World of the Kennedy White House."
