Save the date: Jan 12: Inaugural gala for president-elect to feature Supreme Court justice

Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer plans to swear in Alison Fitzgerald Kodjak as the 112th president of the National Press Club at an inaugural gala on Jan. 12.

Tickets to the event are expected to be available later this week. Watch for The Wire in your inbox for your first chance to buy tickets to this special evening. The inaugural gala is set to begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m.

Kodjak, the health-policy correspondent on National Public Radio's Science Desk, serves currently as the Club's vice president. Her work at NPR focuses on the business and politics of health care and how those forces flow through to the general public. Her stories about the Affordable Care Act, drug prices, limits on insurance and changes in Medicare and Medicaid appear on all of NPR's shows and in the Shots blog. 

Breyer has served on the court since 1994. He was appointed by former President Bill Clinton. Before ascending to the Supreme Court, Breyer spent 14 years as a judge on the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals.
