Reporting the world: National Press Club seeks the best work

The National Press Club is looking for the year’s best international reporting. The Club’s journalism contest recognizes international work, both print/online and broadcast, with the Edwin M. Hood Award for Diplomatic Correspondence. The entries must demonstrate an understanding of American foreign policy and how foreign affairs affects those policies.

The award is named for a distinguished diplomatic correspondent for The Associated Press and a founding member of the National Press Club. It recognizes excellence in reporting on diplomatic and foreign policy issues.

Ryan Lizza of the New Yorker won the Edwin M. Hood Award for Diplomatic Correspondence in 2012 for his coverage of the U.S. foreign policy battles during the "Arab Spring."

The deadline for entering the contest is April 1. For information about the contest, go to http://press.org/about/awards. The prize is $1,000 for each category.

The contest also includes awards for news photos, breaking news, political reporting, regional reporting on Washington, online coverage, consumer reporting, newsletter journalism, coverage of the aerospace and the airline industry, problems facing the elderly and humor writing.
