Report on Youth Civic Engagement to Be Released at Oct. 9 Newsmaker

A report on youth civic engagement will be released at a Club Newswmakers event at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Bloomberg Room.

The report, “All Together Now: Collaboration and Innovation for Youth Engagement,” was prepared by the Commission on Youth Voting and Civic Knowledge. It will be released by the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning & Engagement at Tufts University’s Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service.

It is based, in part, on data from more than 6,000 young adults and 720 high school civics or government teachers. New findings will be disclosed concerning, for example, the degree of parental push back when political topics arise in Social Studies classrooms.

Speakers include Harvard University Institute of Politics Director Trey Grayson, a former Kentucky secretary of state and a youth voting commission member; Robert “Biko” Baker, executive director of the League of Young Voters; and Center Director Peter Levine and Deputy Director Kei Kawashima-Ginsberg.
