Press Club Softball Team Sweeps Another Doubleheader

The National Press Club softball team enters the Memorial Day weekend with a 7-1 record at the halfway point of the Metropolitan Media Softball League season after beating C-SPAN, 13-1, and Bloomberg, 21-9.

In game one, Jim Seminara went 4 for 4 with two triples and two homers, while Mike Young and Jim Rubin each added three hits. Erika Sikes, making her 2013 debut, also had two hits and two runs in the game.

In game two, a 10-run first inning and seven-run sixth inning continued a trend in recent weeks in which Big Blue scores in bunches and never let up until the game is over. Chris Morin made his 2013 debut in this game for us, going 2 for 4 with a triple, walk, and three runs scored. Derrick Gingery continued his hot hitting of late, going 3 for 4 (four hits
on the day) as well.

The Press Club, which has scored 75 runs in its last four games, is off this weekend for Memorial Day before resuming play June 1 against the Washington Post and the Washington Times.
