Pre-holiday jazz and a special dinner buffet at the Club, Thursday, Dec. 14

As the holiday crush winds down and your last packages have hit the deadline for dispatch, it's time to take a deep breath and enjoy some food, beverage and jazz at the National Press Club before heading off to your holiday destinations.

Club members and their guests are invited to Club's annual holiday buffet Thursday, Dec. 14, featuring music from the U Street Jazz Collective. Dinner will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the music begins at 6 p.m. in the Truman Lounge.

Soup: Southwestern butternut squash with sour cream-chive garnish

Roasted beets, orange and arugula with spiced pecans

Pears, cranberries, walnuts and blue cheese with mustard vinaigrette

Apple & pear winter fruit salad with lemon poppy seed dressing

Bone-in ham with pineapple-ginger glaze; (carved to order)

Roast goose with apple cranberry herb stuffing

Seven fish Christmas Eve stew with fennel, tomatoes and peppers

Mexican (corn husk) and Salvadorian (banana leaf) chicken tamales

Cauliflower, leek and Parmesan vegetarian gratin

Chive and celery mashed potatoes with pan gravy

Three mushrooms, black lentils and Parmesan parsley croutons
