NPC American Legion Post 20 to Meet at Noon Sept. 20

The National Press Club American Legion Post 20 will hold a luncheon meeting at noon on Thursday, Sept. 20, in the McClendon Room.

Post 20 members and NPC veterans interested in joining the Post are urged to attend the meeting at which nominations for vacant Post positions will be considered. Members also will be asked to volunteer for assignments, including hosting recovering wounded soldiers at NPC events, improving Post communications, increasing membership and recruiting speakers.

Commander of the Legion's Department of the District of Columbia, Kent S. Webber, will officiate at the swearing in of Ken Dalecki as Commander of Post. 20. Dalecki was elected to succeed John Hurley at a Post 20 meeting this summer. He will discuss plans for boosting Post membership, servicing veterans and active duty personnel, and strengthening Post ties with the NPC.

Webber will discuss highlights of the American Legion's recent annual convention in Indianapolis. Jonathan Buth, a Post 20 member and a D.C. Department official, also attended the convention at which GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney spoke and President Barack Obama gave a video presentation.
