New documentary on secret U.S. army unit that duped Hitler during WW II

The National Press Club will preview the full PBS documentary “The Ghost Army,” a remarkable story of a top-secret American mission that was at once absurd, deadly and amazingly effective in tricking Hitler's forces during World War II.

The screening is on Monday, May 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Rooms. There will be free refreshments and popcorn.

The show is free for Club members and $5 for nonmembers. Please register here: http://www.press.org/events/screening-pbs-ghost-army

War, deception and art come together in Rick Beyer’s new documentary, "The Ghost Army," the astonishing true story of American G.I.s — many of whom would go on to have illustrious careers in art, design and fashion — who duped the enemy with rubber tanks, sound effects, and carefully crafted illusions. The film premieres on PBS on May 21.

Beyer, the director and a Club member, will introduce the film. His wife, Marilyn Rea Beyer, also an NPC member, will lead the Q & A after the film with Beyer, "Ghost Army" veteran Jack Masey, and Roy Eichhorn, former director of research, U.S. Army Combined Arms Center.
