National Press Club plans Newsmaker on the cost of fixing infrastructure

At a National Press Club Newsmaker press conference on April 23, the president of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Gregory DiLoreto, plans to review America’s infrastructure problems and outline the steps and funding necessary to restore it.

The Newsmaker is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the NPC's Bloomberg Room. NPC Newsmakers are open to members and the working press.

The American Society of Civil Engineers has just released its quadrennial report card on the U.S. infrastructure – and the overall grade was an alarming D+. In the World Economic Forum’s most recent ranking, U.S. infrastructure was ranked 16th in the world, down from 7th in 2007. America’s failure to invest in infrastructure has resulted in a steady decline and many fear that decline will not only negatively impact the domestic economy but could drastically reduce America’s ability to compete in the global economy.
