National Journalism Institute plans seminar on FEC Data Diving Part 2, Oct. 5, 9:30 a.m.

Federal Election Commission staff plan to introduce reporters to the campaign finance data available on the FEC website and demonstrate the avenues to access, search and sort the data at a seminar sponsored by the National Journalism Institute on Oct. 5 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the National Press Club's Bloomberg Room.

This class is free, but registration is required at http://www.press.org/events/fec-data-diving-part-2. Space is limited.

The session will include an overview of the data disclosure portal, which includes the presidential and congressional maps, the data disclosure catalog, and real-time data on independent expenditures and electioneering communications. Staff also plan to demonstrate the capabilities of the new candidate and committee viewer, which allows users to find campaign finance activity of any federal candidate, political committee, independent expenditure report filer or other report filer through a single search portal instead of conducting multiple searches in different databases on the website.
