Napa Valley winemaker to host Chimney Rock wine dinner April 30


Chimney Rock winemaker Elizabeth Vianna will guide diners through a tasting of one of Napa’s finest wines at a wine dinner at 6:30 p.m., April 30 at the National Press Club’s Fourth Estate restaurant.

The vineyards of Chimney Rock, situated on the fabled Silverado Trail in Napa Valley’s renowned Stags Leap District, produce wines that compete with the best of Bordeaux and is recognized as one of the world’s premier fine wine producers. Chef Susan Delbert will pair the wines with four luxurious courses.

The wine dinner costs $75 for a member single ticket and $105 for a member couples ticket. For non-members, a single costs $85 and a couple costs $125.

The four-course menu begins at 6:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres of blue cheese tarts, pate on toast and wild mushrooms wrapped in pastry.

Grilled asparagus salad with new potatoes, crème fraiche dressing, poached egg and peppered almonds served with Chimney Rock Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Char-grilled Alaskan halibut drizzled with anchovy butter, accompanied by two-color sweet potato gratin and a trio of sugar snap peas, snow peas and spring peas served with Chimney Rock Elevage Blanc 2008

Local sorbet

Roasted Spring lamb accompanied by rosemary potatoes with truffle oil and brown butter broccolini served with Chimney Rock Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Chocolate mousse-filled dark chocolate shell with Merlot-macerated oranges and raspberries served with Chimney Rock Elevage 2008
