'Muslim Girl' shares journey to blog, book at Jan. 18 NPC book rap

Amani Al-Khatahtbeh, founder and editor of MuslimGirl.com, will discuss her book, "Muslim Girl: A Coming of Age", at a Book Rap on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 6:30 p.m., in the NPC conference rooms.

Tickets are $5 for club members and $10 for the public. Tickets are available by clicking here.

Al-Khatahtbeh will talk about how Islamophobia after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington affected her childhood and how her blog turned into a cultural phenomenon. Her appearance comes just two days before the inauguration of President-elect Donald J. Trump, who pledged to ban Muslims from entering the U.S.

The event will feature an author discussion, audience question-and-answer session, and book signing.

Books can be purchased online at the same time as tickets or at the event. No outside books or memorabilia are permitted.

Proceeds from this event benefit the nonprofit affiliate of the club, the National Press Club Journalism Institute.
