Learn how to write short: word craft for fast times

Roy Peter Clark, Poynter Institute’s writing coach, will discuss the most effective techniques and strategies for making your short work stand out Nov. 20 at 9:30 a.m.

From posting a breaking news story on Facebook to summarizing entire news articles in 140-character tweets, reporters are being asked to do it all. In this workshop, participants will explore both the strategies and purposes of good short writing, paying special attention to the tools that work best for journalists in the digital age, where short writing is king.

Clark, among the most influential writing teachers in America, will be participating in the 36th annual Book Fair & Authors’ Night on Tuesday, Nov. 19 with his new book, “"How to Write Short: Word Craft for Fast Times."
