Learn how to navigate campaign finance filings April 12

Just before a big week of campaign finance filings at the Federal Election Commission (FEC), a panel of political data experts will offer tips on navigating the records and ideas for stories from them between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Friday, April 12.

Representatives of the FEC, the Center for Responsive Politics, Bloomberg News and the Sunlight Foundation will lead the discussion.

Here's what will be landing at the Federal Election Commission the week of April 15:

Campaign finance reports from all campaign committees (filers on a quarterly schedule are due on April 15; monthly filers on April 20);

Pre-primary reports for the Massachusetts special Senate election (due April 18); and

The final accounting of President Barack Obama's inaugural committee (April 20).
