Journalism Institute to host panel on fake news and photos, June 12

Nothing appeals to our emotions more than a powerful image, and that’s why it’s important to understand that "fake news” extends well beyond the written word. On Monday, June 12, come hear a panel led by the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) dissect the problem and discuss the importance of vetting images and maintaining visual integrity.

The program, “Is Seeing Still Believing? The Importance of Visual Journalism in an Era of Fake News,” will be held in the Club's Bloomberg Room from 9.30-11 a.m. Tickets are $5 for Club members and $10 for the general public. Club members must log into their accounts to receive the discounted rate. Registration is required; tickets can purchased here.

The panel will delve into the latest legal and ethical questions concerning the use and misuse of images in news reporting, along with proposals for meaningful visual access to federal, state and municipal governments.

This session is hosted by the National Press Club Journalism Institute and the Club’s professional training team.
