Jim Rogers, CEO of Duke Energy, U.S.'s largest energy company, to speak at Aug. 8 luncheon

Jim Rogers, CEO of Duke Energy, American's largest energy company, will address a National Press Club luncheon on Thursday, Aug. 8, to speak about the challenges U.S. utilities are facing as demand for power slows.

Rogers, in his 25 years as a CEO in the electric utility business, will focus on the policy challenges U.S. utilities are facing as they contend with anemic 1 percent annual growth in power demand. He also will discuss the challenges and opportunities of undertaking an effort to bring power to the 1.3 billion people in the world who have no access to electricity.

The luncheon begins at 12:30 with remarks starting at 1 p.m., followed by a question and answer session. The event ends at 2 p.m.
