Headliners Book Rap topic, Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.: The populist coalition that's reshaping American politics

Salena Zito and Brad Todd, co-authors of “The Great Revolt: Inside the Populist Coalition Reshaping American Politics,” will appear at a National Press Club Headliners Book Rap this Wednesday, May 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the Club’s Conference Rooms.

Zito and Todd traveled more than 27,000 miles to interview more than 300 Trump voters across 10 swing counties to paint a picture of the new populist-conservative coalition: a complex mix of citizens from different economic classes with varying backgrounds and education levels. The authors use Zito’s reports from the field and Todd’s analysis of the electoral trends to argue that the mass media has oversimplified these voters and overlooked their significance in what they feel is a broader cultural shift that will extend well beyond Donald Trump’s presidency.

This event will feature a discussion with the author, an audience Q&A session, and a book signing. Tickets are $5 for Club members and $10 for the general public. They can be reserved here.
