Freelance Committee Launches Searchable Listing of Members

Editors looking for freelance help now have a new resource at the National Press Club –- a listing of NPC member freelancers. The searchable list on the Club’s website is available to Club members and the general public here.

The NPC Freelance Committee compiled the list as a way to help connect editors with freelance needs to freelancers with the right skills, says Tam Harbert, chair of the Freelance Committee. “As the number of freelancers increases and as more and more media outlets use freelance rather than full-time help, we hope this list will be a useful resource for both,” she says. Creation of the list helps meet one of the main goals of the Freelance Committee: to provide freelancers in the Club with more business opportunities.

The list includes about 65 Club members. Besides name, each entry includes email address, website, social media connections, beat specialties, media specialties, and names of up to three outlets where his or her work has appeared. The Freelance Committee will promote the list to both Club members and non-member editors in the Washington region. Club members who would like to be on the list should contact Ally Cannon at [email protected].

In addition to the listing, the Freelance Committee has an active Twitter account (@NPCfreelance) as well as a private LinkedIn group (Freelance Committee, a subgroup of the Members of the National Press Club) where it publicizes freelance job opportunities.
