Fourth Estate misses Groundhog Day, but will offer 'Jazz Night' celebration Feb. 5

Much as the Fourth Estate restaurant would love to celebrate Groundhog Day, the informal Feb. 2 holiday unfortunately falls on a Sunday this year. Instead, the restaurant will celebrate jazz -- with its usual, first-Wednesday-of-every-month "Jazz Night" next Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Held in conjunction with Blues Alley, Georgetown's home for jazz, the evening will feature music by talented-beyond-their-years members of the Blues Alley Youth Orchestra. Close your eyes and you never would dream that their sounds were from anything but consummate professionals. The young musicians are graduates of top music schools and programs and are among the most talented instrumentalists in the D.C. area.

A trio will play from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. during dinner as background music. There is no cover charge. During February, the Fourth Estate will feature oyster po’ boys and beans and rice on every entrée.

Come for the food; come for the music; enjoy both. Reservations suggested, 202.662.7638; space is limited.
