Deadline is here! Looking for best 2016 breaking news, photo, consumer news coverage for National Press Club journalism contest

Could your working be award-winning? This week marks the final deadline to submit your best work to the National Press Club's journalism contest.

So check your best work from 2016 and get those entries in this week! The deadline is April 1. Remember that entries are free for National Press Club members and only $50 for non-members.

The contest seeks the best breaking news, photos, consumer news, humor writing, coverage of international affairs, political reporting and innovative online journalism among the many categories. We’re getting some entries, but many wait until the deadline to enter.
Well, it’s here!

The awards will be presented at an annual awards dinner at the Press Club this summer. Details on the different awards categories and how to enter the contest can be found here.

Entrants are encouraged to use the online entry method, but if you prefer, the Club will accept entries mailed in the traditional way as long as they are postmarked before the deadline.

The National Press Club awards are intended to recognize the best in both traditional and newer forms of journalism. The competition offers journalists a chance to have their work recognized by the National Press Club, one of the leading journalism organizations in the country for more than a century.

The contest includes awards for regional reporting on Washington, newsletter journalism, the welfare of animals, humor writing and coverage of the journalism industry, the aviation industry and problems facing the elderly.
