Cybersecurity for journalists discussed on Update-1 podcast

Journalists are vulnerable to hackers trying to access sensitive, confidential data. Growing threats against press freedom around the world make reporters frequent targets for both public and private sector snooping, requiring them to protect data, drafts and sources from prying eyes.

In latest edition of the Update-1 podcast, Andy Yen, chief executive and co-founder of ProtonMail, speaks with National Press Club Broadcast/Podcast team member Shannon Fisher about cybersecurity for journalists.

From virtual private networks to self-destructing email, there are many options available to journalists who seek to protect their sources, communication and work. These services and programs, many of which are free to use, make it virtually impossible for outsiders to hack into device storage and email accounts, providing peace of mind to journalists and their sources that sensitive discussions will remain private.

Update-1 is produced by Mike Hempen. The podcast can be heard on the Club website or on iTunes, Stitcher and TuneIn.
