Club to show 'Honor Flight' film on Nov 27; discussion to follow

The National Press Club will screen the film “Honor Flight,” a documentary about a Wisconsin community coming together to fly each of its still-living local World War II veterans to visit the World War II memorial, on Tuesday, Nov. 27.

The screening, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Ballroom, will be followed by a brief panel discussion. Among the participants will be Dan Hayes, director of the film.

The event is free and open to the public. To register, click here.

The film’s title is derived from the Honor Flight Network, a national organization that transports the war’s all-but-forgotten veterans, who are in their late 80s and early 90s, to see the memorial. More than 100,000 have made the trip so far. Often it is the first time the veterans have been thanked for their service, and is the last trip of their lives.

A cash bar, beginning at 6 p.m., will precede the screening. The film will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the panel discussion following until 8:30 p.m.
