Centers for Disease Control Director Slated for Sept. 10 Luncheon

Thomas R. Frieden, M.D., director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will report on major health issues and challenges at a Tuesday, Sept. 10, National Press Club luncheon.

CDC is charged with protecting public health and safety via the control and prevention of disease, injury and disability. It focuses on infectious disease, food-borne pathogens, environmental health, occupational safety and health and health promotion. The CDC also researches and provides information on non-infectious diseases, such as obesity and diabetes.

The luncheon begins at 12:30 with remarks starting at 1 p.m., followed by a question and answer session and ends at 2 p.m.

Club members who wish to attend the pre-luncheon reception must RSVP separately to [email protected] 48 hours before the event. Space may be limited. You must have a paid reservation to the luncheon to attend the VIP reception.
