Celebrate journalistic excellence at Club Awards Dinner, Wednesday

Celebrate journalistic excellence Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the annual National Press Club Awards Dinner. A reception will be held at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

Among the winners are the Capital Gazette of Annapolis and the Baltimore Sun, who captured the breaking news award for their courageous coverage of the shooting that killed five people at the Annapolis paper in June of last year.

The Associated Press won the Edwin M. Hood Award for Diplomatic Correspondence for its coverage of children affected by the Trump administration’s immigration policies. National Public Radio won breaking news broadcast for its coverage of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting. Reuters won consumer journalism-newspapers for its coverage of the military’s failure to protect the health of families and children.
