Campaign boot camp 2014: learn to trace the money Monday, March 17
March 4, 2014 | By Nicole Hoffman | firstname.lastname@example.org
Experts on campaign finance will trace the route money travels to influence voters Monday, March 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. This session is the first of a series of programs on issues facing reporters who cover the 2014 campaigns.
The program is open to all but reservations are required here.
Topics include: What are the differences between candidate accounts, leadership accounts, joint fund-raising committees, super PACs, 501c3s, 4s and 6s, and 527s? Who can give to whom, and who can't? Who must disclose donors, and when, and who doesn't? Which types of committees have limits and which don't?
The session will be run by Paul S. Ryan of the Campaign Legal Center and Kathy Kiely of the Sunlight Foundation, with Herb Jackson of the Bergen Record moderating.
