Book Fair author applications due today

Calling all book lovers: The National Press Club Journalism Institute is seeking authors and volunteers for the 2019 Book Fair and Authors’ Night.

The selection criteria and the submission form are available online. Applications must be received no later than Friday, Aug. 30. Authors, regardless of membership status, are invited to submit their work for consideration.

Club members who have published a book since November 2018 are invited to apply to participate in this year’s Book Fair, scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Club. Authors can socialize during a special reception in their honor prior to discussing their work with fans and signing books during this exciting evening celebrating all things literary.

The region’s premier winter book event is a chance to mingle with established and emerging writers while selling your work and raising funds for the Institute.

Club members who would like to volunteer during the event should contact Joe Luckok ([email protected]), who is coordinating those efforts. Volunteers, scheduled in two shifts, will assist authors at their tables and answer guest questions while enjoying complimentary access to the fair.

Book Fair tickets are $5 for Club members and $10 for the public and can be purchased online beginning at 8:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16. They also can be purchased at the door on Nov. 1.

The Book Fair is a fundraiser for The National Press Club Journalism Institute. The Institute promotes an engaged global citizenry through an independent and free press, and equips journalists with skills and standards to inform the public in ways that inspire civic engagement. The Institute is partnering again with landmark local bookstore Politics & Prose in coordinating the event.
