Author and retired educator analyzes divided America on latest NPC Podcast Update-1

In his new book “Divided We Fall,” David Sonius argues that it takes an informed and empowered public to keep America great. In this edition of the National Press Club's Update-1 podcast, Sonius tells Broadcast/Podcast Team member Irv Chapman that the president isn't as powerful as many Americans think and that many members of Congress withhold their opinions on issues that are politically risky to discuss. He also believes it’s a myth that Americans are overtaxed, saying most people think they’re overtaxed because the tax system in inequitable. Sonius also says the political divides in the U.S. stem from culture and political myths and threaten our democratic society.

Update-1 is produced by Mike Hempen. The podcast can be heard here on the NPC website or on iTunes, Stitcher and TuneIn.
