America's youth feel record misery; get details at Newsmaker Feb. 13

The misery of American youth, calculated by Young America's Foundation (YAF) to be at an all-time high, will be the topic of a National Press Club Newsmaker news conference Thursday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. in the Club’s Bloomberg Room.

Ashley Pratte, a spokesperson for YAF, will discuss findings of the foundation’s Youth Misery Index, which has reached a record high of 98.6. She will describe the hardships that young people are experiencing, shown by the index, and the resulting implications for the 2014 elections.

YAF calculates the index by adding figures for youth unemployment (at a near record high), average graduating student loan debt (at a record high) and the per capita national debt (also at a record high).

Like all Newsmakers events, this news conference is open to club members and credentialed press. There is no fee, and no advance registration is required.
