The Fall Hoot of the Silver Owls (long-time Club members) Oct. 29 featured a revealing reminder of the Club's archival treasures, notably Norman Rockwell's "Visit to a Country Editor." in a power point documentary assembled by Owls' Vice-chair, Don Larrabee, and Club Archivist Marlene Justsen.

Rutherford Wine Dinner Tonight; $70 for Members

Rutherford Wine Co. wines will be featured at a Fourth Estate Wine Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4. Tickets are $70 for members and their guests, $93 for non-members.

The event includes a reception and five-course dinner with five featured wines.

The reception will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a Rutherford Ranch Sauvignon Blanc and passed hor d'eouvres. The dinner menu includes seared black
sea bass with panzanella salad, porcini mushroom soup, pork tenderloin wrapped in proscuitto, and short ribs in a huckleberry sauce. Dessert is chocolate triumph.

Madrid, Cartegena, Egypt-Jordan Start 2010 NPC Trips

The National Press Club is sponsoring trips to Madrid, Colombia and Egypt-Jordan early next year, and there is still time to sign up for one or more of them.

Madrid is the destination over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend -- Jan. 13-18. The price is $1,795, all inclusive.

Feb. 12-16, travel to Cartegena, Colombia, for $1795, including air, hotels and more.

Egypt and Jordan are the destinations for a March 10-24 trip, at a cost of $5,485, including everything except transportation to and from New York's JFK.
