Washington, DC - On Tuesday, July 24, at the National Press Club, young progressive female candidates from battleground states--including survivors of sexual assault and harassment--will join People For the American Way’s Next Up Victory Fund for a panel discussion about the impact of the #MeToo movement on candidates, races and the future of politics under a president with a record of discrediting women.
Rachel Crooks, one of the first of at least nineteen women who have accused President Trump of sexual assault, now candidate for Ohio State Legislator, is a featured speaker. Additional panelists will also share their personal stories and discuss how the #MeToo movement influenced their decisions to run for public office and continue to impact their candidacy, their campaigns, and the overall political environment.

WHAT: The power of the #MeToo movement in the 2018 elections.
WHEN: Tuesday, July 24 at 11 am ET
WHERE: The National Press Club, 529 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20045

People For the American Way’s Next Up Victory Fund helps young progressive candidates age 40 and under win races for state and local offices across the country. The goal of Next Up is to build a deep bench of progressive candidates well positioned to control state legislatures, win statewide, and run for federal offices in the years and decades to come.
