Gen. John W. "Jay" Raymond, chief of space operations for the U.S. Space Force branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, will discuss its mission and accomplishments of the space force in  its first year as an independent branch at. National Press Club Headliners Newsmaker event at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 3.

Raymond will address threats to access and freedom to maneuver in space, the branch's work to enhance strategic stability, further global alliances and partnerships, and its work in establishing norms of behavior -- the effects of which can extend well beyond the space domain.

This one-hour program will stream live on the Club's website and YouTube Channel as part of the National Press Club’s Virtual Newsmaker series, and is accessible to both the media and members of the general public free-of-charge.

Raymond's remarks will be followed by a moderated question-and-answer session with National Press Club Vice President Jen Judson of Defense News.

Viewers can send their questions for Raymond via email to [email protected]. Please put Space Force in the subject line.

As the Space Force's highest-ranking officer, Raymond oversees its organizational stand-up and the transfer of officers and enlisted personnel into the newest service branch. Prior to his transfer to the Space Force, he served more than 35 years in the U. S. Air Force.
