Harnessing the Power of Blockchain Technology with Interoperability and Standardization

Washington, DC—The United States is among the nations at the forefront of blockchain technology and to stay there should continue to help promote policies that will lead to mass adoption.
Achieving mass adoption requires interoperability and standardization. The potential is tremendous, but without all three the full promise of blockchain technology cannot be realized.
A fundamental flaw of blockchain is lack of interoperability and closed proprietary technology. Gilbert Verdian is heading a team working to solve the problem. Verdian will explain how the “Overledger” creates interoperability, providing Government and Enterprise choice and openness, to foster innovation, similar to the events that resulted in the creation of the Internet as we know it.
Verdian has over 20 years experience protecting governments and enterprises from Cyber threats and founded the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) – Blockchain ISO Standard TC307. ISO now has 46 countries and organizations such as the European Commission, SWIFT and IBM working together to standardize blockchain technology. Verdian is also the Chairman of the UK’s national committee on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT/1).
Verdian will also offer examples, “Use Cases,” to explain how blockchain technology can in practice confront some of today’s greatest challenges including digital privacy, election security and opioid addiction.
