ACCELERATING THE MARCH TOWARD GENDER JUSTICE
An expert discussion hosted by Islamic Relief Worldwide
Violence, economic exclusion, discrimination, and practices like FGM and forced/early marriage, plague far too many women and girls around the world.
On Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the National Press Club our expert panel will ask what is actually working?
Do faith leaders have a role to play? What are the barriers to success? And, what are the solutions for moving forward?
● Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) affects more than 200 million girls & women in 30 countries
● Domestic violence: One in three women worldwide have experienced either intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime
● Early and forced marriages: More than 700 million women were married when they were under 18,
and of those some 250 million were married before they were 15
The forum will be hosted by Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) and moderated by IRW CEO Naser Haghamed.
