Please join us for an evening meeting at the National Press Club on September 26 to explore the implications of the collapse of Lehman Brothers investment bank ten years ago. This unique event will bring together four of the top experts in the country on banking and the economy for a “Conversation about the Fallout from the Lehman Bankruptcy”. This dialogue will also discuss the major issues gripping the economy today. At the conclusion of the meeting, Nomi Prins and Robert Kuttner will sign copies of their new books.
Nomi Prins—A renowned journalist, former Wall Street executive, author and speaker. Previous to her career in journalism, Ms. Prins was a managing director at Goldman Sachs, ran the international analytics group as a senior managing director at Bear Stearns in London, and was a strategist at Lehman Brothers. Author of numerous books on banking and financial history, her latest book is “Collusion: How Central Bankers Rigged the World”. Ms. Prins is a regular columnist and her commentaries have appeared in all media, including CNN, CNBC, BBC, MSNBC, New York Times, Forbes, London Guardian, etc.
Robert Kuttner---The cofounder and coeditor of The American Prospect. He is a featured columnist for Huffington Post and former columnist for Business Week and the Boston Globe. He holds the Ida and Meyer Kirstein Chair at Brandeis University. He is a speaker in demand across the nation addressing civic, political, labor and academic groups. His latest book, “Can Democracy Survive Global Capitalism” was published in April, 2018.
Marcus Stanley---Is the Policy Director of Americans for Financial Reform (AFR)a coalition of more than 250 national, state, and local groups who advocate for reform of the financial sector. Dr. Stanley has a Phd. In public policy from Harvard University, and previously worked as an advisor to Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Ca), as a Senior Economist at the U.S. Joint Economic Committee, and as assistant Professor of Economics at Case Western Reserve University.
Arthur Wilmarth---Professor of Law at The George Washington University Law School. He is the author of more than forty law review articles and book chapters in the fields of banking law and Constitutional history. Co-editor of a book on the 2008 financial crisis. Testifies before Congress and is regularly quoted in the press. He was a consultant to the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, created by Congress to investigate the 2008 crisis.
Bart Naylor---is the Financial Policy Advocate for Public Citizen. He is an expert on corporate governance, financial markets and shareholder rights. He has been quoted in numerous publications including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, and many others. Previously he was Director of the Office of Corporate Affairs for the Teamsters Union and Chief of Investigations for the U.S. Senate Banking Committee.
