Opioid Outrage: How Cozy Ties between the Pharmaceutical Industry, Congress and Federal Agencies Hastened an Epidemic
June 12,2019, The National Press Club, Holeman Lounge, 8:30 am-11 am
The ugly truth behind a decades-long scandal in which pharmaceutical companies and distributors skirted laws, corrupted physicians, and mass marketed dangerous painkillers to an unwitting public has been finally exposed –unfortunately, only after hundreds of thousands of Americans have fallen prey to overdose and abuse with the number quadrupling in the last year alone.
Join us for this important discussion about how industry and government corruption facilitated this crisis.
Featuring a keynote by Tim Carney, fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and author of Alienated America: Why Some Places Thrive While Others Collapse.
Introductory remarks will be delivered by Ambassador C. Boyden Gray, former White House Counsel and Ambassador to the European Union.
