The new documentary “Your Health: A Sacred Matter” will premiere in Washington, DC at the National Press Club on Tuesday, May 23. The film focuses on how the medical profession is not only looking to the origins of medicine in order to move forward, by re-integrating religiously based tenets into the healing process, but also responding to contemporary research findings that support earlier accepted wisdom.

Doors open at 6p.m. with a cash bar and light refreshments.

The film will begin at 6:45 with a panel discussion immediately following.

These panelists will discuss questions ranging from one of the central film themes: What connections between religion, spirituality, and health are increasingly common in contemporary society- to the moral question how this relates to the ongoing health care policy debate in Washington

The film provides a comprehensive overview of the relationship between religion, spirituality, and health. It tells the personal stories of doctors, nurses, patients, chaplains, and caregivers as they explore life’s important questions: What is the role of religion and spirituality in healers’ lives and their approach to healing? How are modern biomedical investigations into mind/body connections challenging conventional views about religion & spirituality in the United States? How do modern healers respond to their multicultural clientele?

The film, created by National Press Club members Gerald Krell, and Adam Krell of Auteur Productions, Ltd., was recently selected and screened at the Las Cruces Intl. Film Festival. It also won the Award of Excellence and was presented at the International Festival for Spirituality and Religion in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In 2008, the filmmakers produced the National Press Club's 100th anniversary award-winning public television documentary: “The National Press Club: A Century of Headlines.”
