Awards: The 2008 Eric A. Friedheim Travel Journalism Awards

Awards will be given for the best journalism in two categories:
Travel Reporting for Print and Web Publications $5,000
Travel Reporting for Broadcast $5,000
There is no entry fee required. | |
Prize Eligibility
The awards are open to all journalists whose work is published in a recognized print, broadcast or web outlet, including general circulation newspapers, magazines, standard radio and television broadcast, cable television and satellite radio, and commercial website. Publications must have a circulation of at least 10,000. Broadcast outlet must be listed in standard reference works such as Bacon's, Gales, or Broadcast & Cable. Websites must draw at least 100,000 unique visitors per month.
All submissions must have been originally published between August 1, 2007 and August 1, 2008. Submissions may cover any aspect of travel journalism, including but not limited to industry, experiences and adventures, and consumer reporting.
Submission Guidelines
All entries must be postmarked or web date-stamped by August 10, 2008.
Submissions may be made via an online form or by mail. Only one entry per person is eligible. Multiple bylined entries are accepted in the name of the publication.
Print journalists should submit three 8" by 11" copies of their entry.
Broadcast journalists should submit three DVDs or three CDs of their entry.
Items originally published only on the web require only a link to the original URL. Note: If the content of the URL is removed or altered during the judging cycle of the award, the submission is disqualified.
Items published in school, college or university newspapers are not eligible. Individually published websites are not accepted. Web blogs not hosted by a commercial web publication are not accepted.

Awards Ceremony
The prizes will be awarded at a luncheon to be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2008 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.
