These events are organized by the NPC Book & Author Committee and you can pitch your author to them. These events are designed to sell books and are fundraisers for the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library at the National Press Club. The Club will provide books for sale and signature by the author. There are a couple of these events per month. They can take place in any room in the Club and the programs are about one hour long. Most of these events are in the evening. There is generally a modest admission charge to the general public to reserve a seat. The events are open to working press for coverage. Generally this is the main program for authors who have current books and are on tour. The other programs are not good vehicles for book sales and sales are not allowed as part of Luncheons or Newsmakers events – although the guests on those programs may very well have written books.
