Angela Greiling Keane, a reporter for Bloomberg News, was inaugurated as the 106th president of the National Press Club was on Saturday, January 26. Former NPC president Donna Leiwand Leger served as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the formal dinner and celebration in the crowded ball room. The evening was marked with a proclamation from DC Mayor Vincent Gray, congratulations from Ambassadors, and a keynote address from Tim Franklin, managing editor for Bloomberg News. With her daughter holding the oversize plastic wedge of Wisconsin cheese the incoming president took her oath of office as administered by her former instructor, University of Missouri Wes Pippert. In her acceptance speech, Greiling Keane promised to focus on press freedom and the role of women.
