About This Video
Run time: 60 minutes
Mr. Young argues that the current retreat in civil rights has been largley due to policies enacted by the Republican administrations of the 1970s and 1980s. The retreat to which he refers relates to his assertion that while political equality among the races has been ensured, social and economic equality has not. He urges that the civil rights movement continue its move away from political rights and towards economic rights.
