New Tonight Show Host

Comedian Jay Leno, named by NBC television to replace Johnny Carson as host of the Tonight Show in the summer of 1992, addressed an audience at the National Press Club on various matters in Washington politics. He delivered a stand-up routine on Washington politics from Dan Quayle to Jerry Brown, and then responded to questions from members of the audience following his prepared remarks.
