Supreme Court Term Review

The Washington Legal Foundation sponsored a forum at the National Press Club to evaluate the decisions of the Supreme Court during its recently completed term. Issues involved in the decisions of the Supreme Court included allowing regulations to stand which prohibited doctors in federally funded clinics from mentioning abortion as an alternative for pregnant women, limitations in the number of appeals available to death row inmates, and allowing victim impact testimony in sentencing hearings. Panel members also discussed the implications of the retirement of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall from the Supreme Court and the precedents overruled by the current Supreme Court.
