US Airways CEO to discuss proposed American Airlines merger at July 18 luncheon

US Airways Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Doug Parker will discuss his efforts to merge his airline with American Airlines at a National Press Club luncheon on Wednesday, July 18.

Parker also will discuss the current state of the airline industry and make the case for the current wave of consolidation in the skies. A longtime advocate for consolidation in the airline industry, he led the merger of US Airways and America West Airlines in September 2005.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $19 for Press Club members, $30 for guests of members and $37 for general admission.
