University of Missouri President Michael Middleton to outline school's diversity, inclusion efforts at June 21 Speakers breakfast

Michael Middleton, the University of Missouri System interim president, will discuss at a Tuesday, June 21, National Press Club Speakers breakfast how the school is moving forward amid a national conversation about diversity, equity and inclusion that was sparked by protests on the university's flagship campus in Columbia.

Middleton was appointed to head the University of Missouri System last year following racial tension and protests on University of Missouri campus that put it in the national spotlight.

He is an alumnus of the University of Missouri, studying there for his undergraduate degree as well as a law degree. He later served on the law school faculty, following a career with the federal government. Before being named interim president of the University of Missouri System, Middleton was deputy chancellor.

Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. with remarks beginning at 9 a.m. followed by a Q&A session ending at 10 a.m. Tickets cost $24 for Club members and one guest and $38 for non-members.
