Thanks to room change, space still available for Oct. 18 Communicators Summit

Due to popular demand, the National Press Club Communicators Summit on Friday, Oct. 18, has been moved to the Club's Conference Rooms to accommodate more attendees. The summit, sponsored by the Communications and Marketing Committee, will focus on how social media is playing a greater role in journalism and public relations.

The event will start with a networking breakfast at 8 a.m. Admission is $30 for NPC members and $50 for non-members.

The first panel, comprised of journalists, will begin at 8:30 a.m. Panelists will describe how they’re using social media to nurture source relationships and develop story ideas. Danielle Ivory of Bloomberg News, Jack Speer of National Public Radio and Hayley Tsukayama of The Washington Post are scheduled to be on the panel. Danny Selnick of BusinessWire will moderate.

At 10:30 a.m., a second panel, made up of communicators, will review best practices for amplifying media strategies online, including how to use social media to contact reporters and complement traditional media relations methods. They also will discuss the pros and cons of paid online advertising. Panelists will be Kristin Brown of Racepoint Group, Jenna Golden of Twitter, Tammy Gordon of AARP and Communications and Marketing Committee Chair Tom McMahon of Motorola Solutions. The summit's organizer, Lindsay Murphy of Racepoint Group, will moderate.

This is a ticketed event and registration is required. But sign up today because, even with the increased room capacity, space is filling up fast. For more information and to register, click here.
