Survivor to participate on Jan. 8 sexual assault panel

Liz Securro, brutally raped in 1984, was not able to hold her attacker accountable until he wrote her a letter apologizing for what he had done -- 20 years later. Securro, the author of Crash Into Me: A Survivor's Search for Justice, will participate on a National Press Club panel on covering sexual assault. The event will take place in the Zenger Room on Friday, Jan. 8 from 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

Tickets are required and can be purchased by clicking here. The price for NPC members including service charge is $6.24; non-members pay $11.29.

Other panelists will be journalist Kristen Lombardi, Center for Public Integrity, the author of an award-winning investigation of sexual assaults on campus; Bruce Shapiro, executive director of the Dart Center at Columbia University School of Journalism School, which offers guidance and training to journalists covering trauma; and Jennifer Marsh, Vice President for Victim Services at RAINN -- the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network -- the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization, overseeing the National Sexual Assault Hotlines and coordinating services and communication with 1,000 affiliate sexual assault service providers nationwide.
