Space filling up for Club's India and Bhutan trip Nov. 8-22

Seeking exotic travel? The National Press Club's small group tour to India, a colorful, mystical place bustling with activity and interest, and Bhutan, a remote and enticing final frontier, is made to order for you.

The two-week trip, Nov. 8-Nov. 22, is sponsored by the Club's Travel Committee. But to sign up, act fast. Only a few spaces are left.

In India, the group will visit places steeped in history, art, and architecture that showcase both domestic and foreign influences. Highlights of the tour include the historic cities of Old and New Delhi -- one ancient and the other built by the British; Agra, stronghold of the medieval Mughal Empire and home to the Taj Mahal, the magnificent tomb built by Shah Jahan; and Jaipur, the “pink city” in the princely state of Rajasthan.

The tour also include Varanasi, India’s holiest city, where travelers will take a sunrise boat ride on the sacred Ganges River.

Bhutan, the land of the Thunder Dragon, is one of the most highly acclaimed travel destinations. This tiny kingdom, the size of Switzerland, was zealously sequestered from the world for centuries. It is a land of remarkable natural beauty with a pristine, intact environment and a friendly, tradition-bound people.

Highlights of the Bhutan tour include visits to Paro, the home to many of the oldest Buddhist temples and monasteries and the National Museum; an evening visit to Tashichho Dzong, Bhutan’s administrative and religious center; and a morning hike thru beautiful pine forests to the Taktsang monastery, one of the most venerated of all Buddhist sites worldwide.

This trip is all inclusive -- 13 nights at deluxe accommodations; breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily; experienced and well informed guides; internal airfare; and many extras as outlined in the detailed itinerary on our Travel Committee Web page here.
