Snap, download... then what? Sign up for hands-on Photoshop class

Beginning Photoshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, and Intermediate Photoshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13. Participants can attend either session or both.

Participants should bring a couple of recent digital photos on a thumbdrive; laptops will be provided or participants may bring their own as long as they have Photoshop software.

Please bring at least one photo with a person as the subject and one photo featuring of a location or landmark. JPEG file format is best, but any standard format (TIFF, TARGA, PNG, JPEG, RAW) will do as long as the photo has a decent resolution and is not from a built-in cameraphone.

Classes will be taught by Ivan Meyers, a multimedia specialist who holds degrees in radio, television and film as well as a Master's Degree in music technology. He has worked as a production specialist at NBC News in New York and recently ran the broadcast studio and oversaw nightly newscast production at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where he also taught video editing, web programming, and television studio production.

The workshops are $20 for NPC members, and $55 for nonmembers for one session; $35 for members and $100 for nonmembers for both sessions. The classes will be held in the Bloomberg Room.

Space is limited. To reserve a seat, contact [email protected] with your name and Club member number or, for nonmembers, your billing preference.

The sessions are sponsored by the Professional Development Committee, part of the Eric Freidheim National Journalism Library.
