Seven journalists to air convention warm-up live from Truman Lounge Friday

Julie Mason, White House reporter and now host of the SiriusXM™ radio program "Press Pool," will host "Politics Straight Up" live from the Press Club's Truman Lounge Friday, Aug. 24,from 7-9 p.m. This convention warm-up show will feature casual conversations with seven journalists. The show will air live only on POTUS (Politics of the United States for the People of the United States) on SiriusXM channel 124.

Mason will chat it up with the following distinguished guests: Kate Anderson Browser, White House reporter for Bloomberg News; Eleanor Clift, writer/reporter for Newsweek and Daily Beast and a panelist on The McLaughlin Group; Stephen Collinson, Agence France Presse White House correspondent; George Condon, staff writer covering the White House for National Journal; Elise Foley, reporter for Huffington Post; David Jackson, author of the Oval Blog at USA Today; and Tim Mak, reporter for POLITICO.

Jared Rizzi, Press Club member of the Broadcast committee, says that listening to Politics Straight Up on the radio "is unlike listening to any other radio program-by design. It's fluid, uninterrupted and commercial free. You can hear ice tinkling in glasses and the waiter taking orders in the background, which gives you a 'You are there' kind of listening experience."

Press Club members and their guests can see the program live at the Club, while enjoying the usual free tacos on Friday nights. Sirius subscribers living anywhere in the contiguous U.S. can hear it on their radios either at home or in their car. Anyone anywhere in the world with access to the Internet can access the program online.

Mark your calendars: Politics Straight Up will continue its 2012 presidential campaign coverage with two more live broadcasts: one on Friday, Oct. 12, which is one week after the second debate, and the next on Friday, Nov. 2, the Friday before the presidential election is held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012.
