See "Red Hot Patriot" at Arena Stage, meet star Kathleen Turner, Sept. 13

Join the National Press Club Journalism Institute at Arena Stage for an evening of theater and a private conversation after the performance with Academy Award nominee Kathleen Turner on Sept. 13.

Turner stars in “Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins,” a play about the late newspaper columnist. Tickets are $150 each for Club members and $175 for all non-members.

The price covers admission to the show and the post-performance event with Turner, which will include light refreshments. Click here to order tickets.

Turner brings her sizzling blend of sensuality and intelligence to the bravado of Ivins. A dyed-in-the-wool liberal from deep in the heart of Texas, Ivins’ rapier wit made her one of America’s leading columnists and satirists and a beloved rabble rouser. Turner “excels" in the role, according to a review in Variety, in this searing, 75-minute show that weaves personal anecdotes and a humorous look at our national pastime –politics.

The authors of the play, twin sisters Margaret and Allison Engel, are both journalists. Margaret Engel directs the Alicia Patterson Journalism Foundation. She formerly was the managing editor of the Newseum and a reporter for The Washington Post. Allison Engel has worked as a reporter for the Des Moines Tribune, San Jose Mercury and Pacific News Service.
